1.1- understand the three states of matter in terms of the arrangement, movement and energy of the particles

The three states of matter are solid, liquid and gas.

Solid:

Arrangement- the particles are close to one another, and tightly packed together

Movement- the particles are packed together tightly, they can only vibrate around a fixed point

Energy- They have little to no kinetic energy, less than liquid and gas. Particles are not moving

Liquid:

Arrangement- Particles are close together, but in an irregular shape

Movement-The particles are free to move

Energy- A moderate amount of kinetic energy

Gas:

Arrangement- Particles are far part in a free arrangement

Movement- Particles are free to move

Energy- Particles have more kinetic energy than liquids and solids
